![]() Mexico Notes Our Mexico retreats have been very successful. We had 12 students for the January retreat and 7 for the February retreat. La Manzanilla is the perfect location for Yoga. Maria's palapa is ideal for the morning and afternoon yoga session. Just the right amount of shade and sun, protected from the afternoon winds. Our morning meditations on the beach and the rooftop of the hotel allow for some wonderful Chi Kung balanced by the smells and noises of morning in Mexico. Our first morning we had a truck deliver a wad of gravel on the road just below us! Other mornings we heard the workmen singing along with their Mexican love songs. On the beach we heard the sound of surf and sea birds and followed our morning yoga with a quick dip in the waves-a great purification practice. After a wonderful breakfast consisting of a humongous fruit salad we hike to the yoga room at Maria's palapa. Surrounded by red bougainvillea, colourful trees, birds and iguanas, the classes are focused and energetic: usually a 2 to 2 1/2 hour class followed by a long savasana and meditation. Lunch at Yolanda's is a continual treat: fresh local food such as pollo poblano (chicken with Mexican green chili sauce), somosas, salads, fish & vegetarian dishes. We have the restaurant to ourselves while Yolanda creates delicious feasts for us. Afternoons are spent at the beach, on the water or walking, swimming or resting. One day we travel to nearby Tenacatita. Most folks get to know some of the local hangouts and make new friends. Afternoon class at 4:30 is a bit warm to start so we do lots of resting and restorative work: pranayama, Thai yoga massage, even belly dancing with Jeannie on the last day. ![]() Casa de Maria pelapa ![]()
